Provide Shelter and Food For Street Children Against Covid-19 Now.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and updates from the President and the Inter-Ministerial Committee and public responses so far, we the undersigned leaders from the following non-governmental organizations of Ghana, are calling on the Government of Ghana to provide a safe place for street children and factor them in any ongoing planning control measures to fight the Corona Virus pandemic:

Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF)
Future of Africa (FOA)
Chance for Children (CFC)
Kinder Paradise
Street Girls Aid (SAid)
Lifetime Centre (AG Care)
Street Children Project (SCP)
Muslim Family and Counseling Services (MFCS)

On 15th March,2020, H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo came up with very clear guidelines and directives with reference to the Corona Virus, however, there was no specific mention of street connected children and their families and measures that are being taken to protect them against the pandemic for the thousands of street children and their families out there.
The President announced that all functions including social gatherings should be minimal to ensure that proper safety measures are adhered to. However, street children still spend most of their days and nights on the streets. They are prone to exposure to this pandemic by the very nature of their day to day activities and in the unfortunate event of an outbreak among them will lead to great uproar of panic in the country and our safety comprised.
