The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection as part of its mandate to protect the vulnerable, excluded and persons with Disability has begun on last Thursday, 9th April, 2020 begun donating of food items and cooked foods to support Ghanains and the homeless during the parial lockdown period.
The Ministry in addition to the food items also will distribute hand sanitizers to the vulnerable. This is to help them sanitize their hands regularly in order to fight the Corona Virus Pandemic.
With regards to the national Food sharing amidst the deadly disease coronavirus, the Divisional Zongo chief for Ashalaja traditional area Alhaji Yussif Tahiru has sent a word of caution to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) who are in charge of the food sharing to desist from bias and politicising the process.
According to the traditional ruler, hunger has no political colors and maybe Ghanains who needs food to survive during the lockdown period may not belong to the ruling party.
We are not in our normal times so this critical moment is when Ghanains need support from government no matter their political affiliation each and everyone must eat from the taxpayers money, he said.
Moreover, the Divisional Zongo chief has charged members of parliament , parliamentary candidates and party executives stop the bias sharing of foods to their party folks but rather have a good heart in reaching the poor and vulnerables in their various communities across the country.
