Ghanaian heavyweight high-life musician, Amandziba Nat Brew has advised young musicians to be very cautious and read clauses very carefully before signing any form of contract.
The legendary musician believes that the signing of contacts which understand normal circumstances suppose to help the artiste promote his or her craft, get him money and other laurels out of the hard work sometimes turns the other way round.
Speaking on UTV’s entertainment programme, United showbiz hosted by Nana Ama Mcbrown, the “wogbejeke” composer emphatically made it known that the suffering of many old Ghanaian musicians is as a result of bad contracts.
Issues concerning contracts between artistes and labels, managers, promoters etc has over the years become one of the biggest challenges in the Ghanaian music industry which needs more attention and education.
Within the few years ago, the Ghanaian music industry has recorded many stories of with regards to contracts. The disagreement between Producer Jam Master Jay (JMJ) and Kaaki, Stonebwoy and some members on the Zylofon music record lebel, Fameye and his manager Ogidi Brown, Yaw Berk, Kurl Songs and their manager Kawa just to mention a few.
