The Regional Minister for this new region, Hon. Evans Opoku-Bobie who made a remarkable history in the Asunafo North Elections by winning the seat for the first time as parliamentarian with a whopping Eight thousand Votes difference.
As part of his working visits, he visited the people of Asutifi South Constituency for the second time to climax his tour at that particular Area. He had a fruitful deliberations with communities like Konkontreso, Acherensua, Hwidiem and their surrounding hamlets. The minister addressed the Traditional leaders and the entire public to rally behind this new region because the Coordinating Council is going to focus much on hard and soft infrastructure so that, the hundreds of youth will get employment and monumental projects will not be swept under the red carpet. He stated emphatically that H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of creating the region is to facilitate rapid development on our doorstep.
Hon. Evans Opoku-Bobie reiterated on a spike that, the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council is duly on course in its operations therefore, every tom, dick and harry whether in Ahafo or any part of Ghana is warmly welcome to the RCC for all forms of postulations and enquiries to make the region one of the best in the Country. The Council is situated at the Regional Capital- Goaso. Precise location, off Goaso-Kukuom road, near Dechem. The minister emphasised that, the issue of developmental projects and job opportunities will NOT be centered at the CAPITAL because, that is not the purpose of creating Ahafo Region.
It is very imperative to note that all the developmental projects will be spread at the various communities in the region. The audience commended the minister for such a great message. The Traditional leaders urged the minister to maintain his attitude of humility and the kind of respect he has shown to NANANOM and the people of AHAFO.
The first ever Ahafo Regional Minister entreated the people of Asutifi South to remain phelegmatic and support all the government policies. He charged the youth to take an advantage of the new government programme which is dubbed, REARING FOR FOOD AND JOBS.
Hon. Bobie alluded to the president’s statement on this new programme. “In the five-year period of the Rearing for food and jobs campaign, it is projected that forty thousand, five hundred and small ruminants, mainly sheep and goats, thirty eight thousand pigs, two hundred and fifty eight thousand cockerels, and over six hundred and sixty thousand guinea fowls, which will not fly to Burkina Faso will be distributed to livestock farmers and would-be farmers, throughout the Country.” Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The minister advised the youth to take part in piggery and poultry rearing because the government is ever ready to support them like the planting for food and jobs. Hon. Bobie revealed that, one of the greatest way of reducing hardship is telecommunication therefore, he will make sure that communities within this new region will have access to telecommunication.
It is evidently clear that, Telecommunication helps us to deliver a message to our relatives in a minute by saving the money we would have used as transportation to reach them. The minister and his retinue visited one of the longest footbridge at Hwidiem. He interacted with the contracted and urge them to do a proper work. Hon. Bobie drove their backhoe machine at the site.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Dwomoh Mensah Robert was the leader of the delegation as the mayor of the land. Ahafo Regional Executives and Constituency Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party accompanied the minister.
